The one thing that has been recorded and made public in ringing over the years has been performances. We are used to seeing peals and quarters in The Ringing World and on BellBoard. Lesser lengths are now appearing more frequently. Interestingly, this is more like the reports that can be seen in the early ringing publications and local newspapers. In Victorian times it was not unusual for short touches to be published.
Was the change a conscious one or a result of the Central Council's focus on peal ringing? An opportunity for a small research project.
These pages will show the Central Council's annual peal reports, information on long lengths and record peals and a project to make use of BellBoard for historical performances.
